1 Introduction
The SMG130 is a triaxial gyroscope for non-safety related applications, e.g. for in-dash naviga-
tion in the passenger compartment. Within one package, the SMG130 offers the detection of an-
gular rate in three perpendicular axes. The digital standard serial peripheral interface (SPI) of the
SMG130 allows for bidirectional data transmission.

2 Technical Description
2.1 Working Principle of the Sensing Element (MEMS)
The gyroscope SMG130 consists of an evaluation circuitry (ASIC) stacked on top of a micro-
mechanical sensing element (MEMS) within a standard LGA package.
